New Developments in RNA Biology: State of the art and future perspectives
Invitation to the FEBS International Workshop on “New Developments in RNA Biology: State of the art and future perspectives”
Dear Participants
It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the FEBS workshop on RNA Biology, to be held as a satellite meeting of the FEBS-IUBMB meeting of Sevilla 2012. This workshop will take place in Tavira, Portugal, from September 1-4 of 2012. Travel arrangements will be made for those of you interested in attending the Sevilla FEBS-IUBMB meeting which will start on the evening of September 4th. Travelling from Tavira to Sevilla will take only a couple of hours by bus.
The focus of this satellite meeting is on “New Developments in RNA Biology”. Since RNA emerged from the shadow of DNA it has become one of the hottest research areas of molecular biology. The study of RNA biology has implications for many diseases as well as for understanding regulation of gene expression, translation, and ultimately evolution. In recent years, ribozymes, miRNA, siRNAs and many other functional noncoding RNA types have been discovered and evidences indicate that RNA dictates the expression of genetic information and the control of metabolism. RNA is also deeply involved with the movement of high-order complex characteristics during development, differentiation, and the onset of diseases. The major objective of the workshop is to promote a fruitful dialog between the attendees and experts coming different areas of RNA Biology such as (a) Transcription, (b) Ribosomal RNA/tRNA, (c) RNA structure, (d) RNA degradation and quality control, and (e) Small RNAs. In addition, you will be able to explore the beautiful surroundings since the meeting will take place in a hotel inserted in a natural park.
We are looking forward to welcome you to the workshop! Leonor Cancela & Cecília M. Arraiano
