Specific Activities
The specific activities aim to promote discussion amongst delegates, corporate partners, and exhibitors.

Corporate Seminars
Corporate partners will be able to present new products, share information with delegates, and receive feedback.

Guided Poster Tour
Attendees wishing to participate will be divided in small groups, maximum 10 people. Each group will visit their posters guided by an Invited Speaker. These guided poster tours aim to:
  1. increase the visibility of the posters,
  2. facilitate the exchange between speakers and poster presenters, and
  3. promote scientific discussions during poster sessions.
This voluntary activity requires the registration of interested congress attendees during the online registration process.

Speakers’ Corner
Invited speakers will be available for informal discussion and debate at a predefined meeting room. The speakers available will rotate according to the list of speakers of the day. Everybody is welcome!

Portrait Gallery
The Portrait Gallery aims to honour 24 outstanding female scientists who played crucial roles in the development of Biochemistry worldwide. Each woman will have her own exhibition panel with her photo and biography both in English and in Spanish.

Women Career Lunch

This informal lunch with outstanding female scientists will allow young participants to discuss difficulties they may find during their career development and talk about alternative solutions.

The sign-up sheet will be available at the FEBS stand, and only the first 60 registrants will be able to attend.

This activity will take place at the Congress venue on Saturday, September 8, from 13:30 to 15:00, so everybody has time to go to the subsequent Women in Biochemistry Workshop starting at 15:30.

STRENDA (Standards for Reporting Enzymology Data)

STRENDA (Standards for Reporting Enzymology Data) is a Commission created by the Beilstein-Institut in 2004 and supported by the Institut since then. The Commission aims at the improvement of functional enzymology data quality in journals and databases by proposing both standards for reporting enzyme data and standards for uniform assay conditions. The STRENDA Publication Guidelines were developed through extensive interactions with the biochemical communityand were already adopted by 15 biochemistry journals. The Commission hopes that further journals will follow soon.

The next step is to integrate effectively these guidelines into the daily publication process. The STRENDA group developed a online tool (the STRENDA E-Form) that incorporates these guidelines and which is intended to act as a portal for both the verification whether the published data comply with the guidelines and the submission of these data to a freely accessible, public database. A working prototype will be presented and discussed with the aim to gather suggestions and ideas on the use, impact and potential application by authors and journals. Finally, the STRENDA Commission hopes to work with the community to develop an E-form that can be integrated into the publication practices of the community.

Career paths: Steps towards a successful scientific career
This session is organized by the Research in Germany / DFG (German Research Foundation).

Do you want to move forward on your scientific career path? Join us for this workshop. Discover what Germany can do for you. Get insider information on career and funding opportunities. Find out more about fellowships for postdoctoral researchers, programmes to establish an independent research group and individual funding.

In addition, scientists from Germany and abroad will give an insight into their own personal career paths and will share their experience with different research grants which fostered their scientific careers. This offers you a unique behind-the-scenes look at Germany and its research landscape. Take the opportunity to initiate contacts and discuss your career plans during a coffee break with experts in an informal setting.

Panelists: To be assigned.
