Biochemistry in the city
Biochemistry in the city is a project of outreach activities for the general public associated with the celebration of the 42nd Congress of the Spanish Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SEBBM).
We aim to bring the work of scientists closer to society, particularly in the areas of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and highlight the importance of these disciplines in unsuspected areas of our daily life. This “surprise effect” is important to awaken the curiosity of the public and convey the idea that science is present in all our tasks, thus increasing the scientific culture of the attendees and their appreciation of the value of research.
Activities will include informative talks and round tables given by specialists, where the presence and impact of biochemistry and molecular biology in places other than research laboratories. Topics such as leisure, food, justice and energy usage, will be explained to the general public with the goal to integrate science, culture and society.
